Vicky Kaushal’s latest period drama, Chhaava, has made a roaring start at the box office. The film collected ₹50 crore worldwide on its opening day, marking the biggest-ever opening for a historical Hindi film.

Maddock Films, the production house behind Chhaava, announced the impressive box office numbers on Saturday. Taking to their official X handle, they wrote:

“Yeh ‘Chhaava ki dahaad’ hai. Roared like a true warrior king! Biggest opening ever for a Historical Hindi Film. Book your tickets now!”

According to reports, Chhaava grossed ₹50 crore globally on its first day. At the domestic box office, the film earned ₹33.1 crore net.

About Chhaava

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Chhaava features Vicky Kaushal in the role of Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Rashmika Mandanna portrays Maharani Yesubai, while Akshaye Khanna takes on the role of Aurangzeb. The film also stars Diana Penty, Ashutosh Rana, and Vineet Kumar Singh.

This marks Vicky Kaushal’s third biographical film after Sardar Udham and Sam Bahadur.

Despite mixed reviews from critics, who praised Vicky Kaushal and Akshaye Khanna’s performances but criticized the screenplay and pacing, Chhaava continues to perform well at the box office. Early trends suggest strong collections on Saturday and Sunday, setting the stage for a blockbuster opening weekend.
