Loveyapa Movie Review: Junaid Khan & Khushi Kapoor Shine in a Heartfelt Tale of Love Beyond the Digital Age!" 5

Loveyapa Movie Review: Storyline

Set in the heart of Delhi, Loveyapa is a modern-day love story that delves into trust, relationships, and the impact of digital footprints. The film follows Gaurav, aka Gucci (Junaid Khan), a young man deeply in love with Baani (Khushi Kapoor). While their relationship is yet to be disclosed to their families, Baani lies to her father, Atul Sharma (Ashutosh Rana), about winning a phone in a lucky draw – when in reality, it was a gift from Gucci.

On the other hand, Gucci’s sister Kiran (Tanvika Parlikar) is engaged to Anupam (Kiku Sharda), a successful dentist. Their relationship appears stable until Atul stumbles upon Gucci and Baani’s love story. Curious to test their trust, Atul proposes a unique condition – the couple must exchange their phones for 24 hours and unlock them in front of each other.

What starts as an innocent challenge soon turns chaotic when hidden messages, interactions with exes, and questionable online activities come to light. Their once-perfect romance turns into a series of accusations, misunderstandings, and emotional turmoil. Meanwhile, Kiran starts questioning Anupam’s secrecy about his own phone.

As tensions rise, an unexpected digital scandal involving deepfake videos threatens to destroy relationships. With emotions running high, Gucci must navigate love, trust, and redemption to prove that real relationships are not disposable like mobile phones.

Loveyapa Movie Review: Screenplay & Direction

Director Advait Chandan keeps the tone light and engaging while weaving in subtle yet powerful messages. The film humorously highlights the pitfalls of modern dating, emphasizing that trust is key in any relationship.

Sneha Desai’s screenplay ensures that the humor remains natural, making the film a breezy watch. The dialogues are witty and relatable, giving the audience plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. The film also tackles serious themes like online privacy, deepfake dangers, and impulsive decisions in relationships without feeling too preachy.

However, one subplot regarding Anupam’s hesitation to share his phone feels slightly exaggerated, making it less convincing compared to the rest of the storyline.

Loveyapa Movie Review: Performances

  • Junaid Khan delivers an effortless and charming performance as Gucci, proving he has the potential to be a strong lead actor. His screen presence and comic timing make him a delight to watch.
  • Khushi Kapoor shines as Baani, portraying the emotional conflicts of her character with authenticity. While she may not have reached her sister Janhvi Kapoor’s level yet, her performance here is a big step forward.
  • Ashutosh Rana is excellent as the strict yet understanding father. His expressions and dialogue delivery elevate every scene he’s in.
  • Kiku Sharda steals the show with his humorous yet layered performance as Anupam.
  • Tanvika Parlikar and Grusha Kapoor provide strong support as Kiran and her mother, adding depth to the family dynamics.

The supporting cast, including Gucci’s group of friends played by Jason Tham and Aaditya Kulshreshth, adds to the film’s fun factor.

Final Verdict

Loveyapa is a refreshing rom-com that balances humor, emotions, and social commentary in a highly entertaining way. With strong performances and a relatable storyline, it successfully delivers a message about trust in relationships. If you enjoy lighthearted romantic dramas with a modern twist, this film is a must-watch.
